Through the several thousand years of Chinese wood sculpture history, artists have not only accumulated sophisticated sculpture techniques, their tools have also become more extensive and diverse. With these different tools requiring different skills, sculptors are able to cut, chisel, pare, peel, scrape and incise various patterns on the wood, creating a wonderful variety of designs.
