The Zen meditation hall, Chan Hall in Chinese, is where practitioners let go of all thoughts and concerns, and devote their life to the Chan practice, with the aim to one day attain sudden enlightenment to the original mind, and directly realize Buddhahood. Therefore, the Chan Hall is also known as the "Buddha Selection Hall," a most important space in a Chinese Zen monastery.
